Parenting Information
For Parents of Preschoolers

With so much parenting information out there on the web, how do you know who you can trust for the most complete, up-to-date knowledge?

Take it from someone who’s educated in child development, behavior management, and who’s been in the trenches with children of her own.

Who is this person, you ask? It’s me – The Preschool Professor!

These pages will contain not only my own knowledge and experiences, but also that of other experts and visitors like you. Check out our page of parenting advice to start!

So join in the conversation and let’s get going!

Parenting Issues

During the preschool years, parents must deal with a variety of parenting issues. One of the earliest issues is how parents will deal with child discipline. It is important to be consistent, so deciding how behavior will be handled is best done as soon as possible.

Another issue that arises early is potty training. Toilet training usually starts around the time a child is 2 or 3 and can vary in how long it takes for a child to become “independent in the bathroom.”

Parents also commonly search for information about gender identity during this stage. Children are beginning to learn the differences in gender and starting to behave and act differently, according to which gender they identify most with.

The next parenting issue during the younger years is teaching children skills. Children are developing intellectually, socially and emotionally. Their self-esteem is growing and they are feeling more confident in their abilities. Parents must deal with moral and ethical issues like cheating, lying, and stealing at this time.

Parenting Resources

The best place to start is by downloading a copy of my FREE parenting resources. It's a must-have for all parents of preschoolers. Then you should check out my list of the best 10 parenting tips for inspiration.

Other than this website (of course!), there are many places that moms and dads can find parenting information.

One of my favorite places to look is the bookstore or library. There are so many helpful parenting books on the market today, addressing needs current to today’s parents and children.

Another parenting resource is the Internet. Parenting websites can either be great resources, or full of bologna! I always check the credentials of the author before deciding how trustworthy their information is. One site that I just love is Positive Parenting With Purpose, which has lots of tips and resources for those parenting with a positive outcome in mind.

If you are having serious parenting issues, or would like more in-depth training, there are myriad ways of furthering your parenting education. You can take local or online classes, attend seminars, or even find a reputable e-course. Or check out our page filled with parenting advice - you can both help and be helped here!

Parenting Humor

Chances are, if you’re a parent, you have days when you need a good laugh, not more parenting information! Check out my parenting humor section for quotes, jokes, stories, and even videos to lift your mood. Then contribute your own to make others smile!
