Your Ideas for a
Preschool Ocean Theme
I have taught many themes in my classes, including a preschool ocean theme unit.
Here are a few of my ideas:
- I always started off my unit by decorating the classroom to look like we were under the sea. Of course, I had "The Little Mermaid" music soundtrack playing in the background!
- I brought in a fish tank so we could observe some real animal life during the ocean theme unit.
- We went on a field trip to the local aquarium. If this isn't an option for you, you could show a movie to the children.
- The children made ocean collages with sand, tiny seashells, Swedish Fish candy, and goldfish crackers! Too cute.
- I taught the kids the song "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean." As an added activity, they had to stand up/sit down everytime we sang a word that started with B.
