Fathers Day Crafts
To Make Dad Smile!

Nothing will make Dad's day better than one of these homemade Fathers Day crafts. The cutest gifts are always the ones lovingly made by children.

As with all craft activities with young children, you may need to do some of the preparation ahead of time – cutting out shapes, assembling some pieces, etc., depending on the ability level of the students.

Also, for safety reasons, please make sure to supervise young children that are using scissors (even safety scissors can cut), glue, and small pieces.

Ok, enough of the chit-chat! Let’s get going on those Fathers Day crafts!

**I am continually adding more to this (and other) pages, so keep checking back for more!**

Fathers Day Crafts to Display

Photo Holder:
1. Take the flowers off of artificial flower stems (as many as photo holders as you want - we did 3).
2. Tape a paper clip to the top of each stem.
3. Cut flower shapes out of construction paper.
4. Glue picture onto the center of each flower.
5. Slip each flower into a paper clip on a stem.
6. Stick the stems into a mesh bag of craft stones so they stand upright.

Dad's Tie Doorhanger:
1. Find an old necktie (Dad won't be too happy if you take his favorite one!) and cut the wide end about 12" up from the bottom.
2. Trace the necktie onto a piece of cardboard or posterboard and then cut out shape.
3. Slip the posterboard inside the necktie and glue to secure.
4. Cut about an 1" in the middle at the top, and then a circle (about 2") to allow for the necktie to hang on a doorknob.
5. On the front, decorate however you wish. You could write a message on paper and glue to the front, cover with stickers, glue a picture of yourself, or make a message from foam. The possibilities are endless!

Fathers Day Crafts to Wear

Lapel Pin:
1. Find and clean as many metal bottle tops (like from an old-fashioned Coke bottle) as you would like to make this pin with.
2. Cut a circle out of posterboard large enough to glue on all the bottle tops.
3. Inside each clean bottle top, glue a small picture of child's face.
4. Glue the bottle tops onto the piece of posterboard.
5. Write #1 Dad (or other message) on posterboard underneath the bottle tops.
6. Glue a pin back on the back of the posterboard.

Homemade Tie:
1. Use a real tie as a template to trace onto a piece of construction paper.
2. Cut out tie shape.
3. Decorate the front however you wish. You may want to use: crayons, markers, glitter, buttons, stickers, etc.
4. Fold over the top of the tie about an inch.
5. Cut a piece of yarn long enough to fit around Dad's neck.
6. Glue the center of the yarn underneath the flap you made at the top of the tie.
7. Flip it over and you've got a homemade tie that Dad/Grandpa/Uncle will be proud to wear!

Fathers Day Crafts to Use

Pennant Car Freshener:
1. Fold a piece of craft felt in half.
2. Trace a tall triangle shape onto the felt and cut out into 2 pieces.
3. Paint a message for Dad like "#1 Dad" on the felt and let dry.
4. Dab some essential oil in the center of both pieces of felt.
5. When oil is dry, glue the edges of the felt together and let dry.
6. Punch a hole in the top and string a piece of clear thread through for Dad to hang up in his car!

Necktie Bookmark:
1. Find an old necktie and cut 10" from the bottom on the thin end.
2. Tie a knot in the top on the cut end and secure with glue.
3. Trace the tie on a piece of construction paper and cut out shape.
4. Make sure shape is smaller than actual tie, so you may need to trim it a little.
5. Write a message to Dad on the construction paper.
6. Glue the paper to the back of the tie.
