No classroom teacher has ever complained about having too many bulletin board ideas! Once you read these ideas, your biggest problem will be that you don't have enough space for them all...
Speaking of space, how can you create more if you want more bulletin boards than are actually hung in your classroom? Here are a couple of things that I've done.
- I've actually made a bulletin board on a large sheet of butcher paper (or sheet) and hung it up on some blank wall space. This is a great way to maximize the space you do have, even if there is no official cork bulletin board.
- I decorated my classroom door to change with the seasons, which basically became a bulletin board! Just cover with paper or fabric and design to your heart's content.
- You could take some of the interactive bulletin board ideas and use a pocket chart instead.
So even if you don't have as many bulletin boards in your class as you would like, you can get creative and make more space!
Another one of my quick bulletin board ideas - If you are wondering how to make a large picture without free-hand drawing it, this is how I did it: I would find a clip-art picture that I liked and either use my ELMO projector or make a transparency of it. I would then trace the image onto a piece of butcher paper as large as I needed it!

The second type of bulletin board is for showcasing student work. You might utilize this one the most in a classroom. The students often create such beautiful works of art that you can't help but display them somewhere! Sunday school bulletin boards that are made with preschool Bible crafts are often this type.
This kind of board is useful for many reasons. Firstly, it allows the children to see their work and gain self-esteem and pride at a job well done. Secondly, it allows parents to see what has been going on in your classroom. And thirdly, it creates an environment where children feel they are part of a community.
The last type is called an interactive bulletin board. Teachers may want to create an activity in a center but they don't have the space on the floor or table. An interactive bulletin board solves the space problem (if you have the wall space!).
One example of this type of bulletin board is an alphabet matching board. All of the letters are on the board with a small envelope underneath them. The students have to take a letter and put it in the envelope under the correct matching letter.

Fall Bulletin Board Ideas
Winter - "Snow Days" I covered the bulletin board with blue paper. Then I created a snowman out of cotton balls. I attached 2 eyes and mouth made out of coal, a pretend carrot nose, a scarf, and a tall hat. I showed the children how to make paper snowflakes and attached those around the snowman.

Summer - "Summer's Here"
I covered the board with
blue paper. Then I took a sheet of white paper and spread a sand/glue
mixture over it. When it was dry, I stapled it at the bottom of the
board to look like the beach. I made an umbrella out of a long wrapping
paper tube and fabric for the umbrella top. I hung up some
beach-related items like a sand shovel, a pretend starfish, and
sunglasses. I made the "water" out of blue wrapping paper foil. The
kids loved it because it reminded them of the beach, even though we
were in the classroom!
